Divisional Round Punt Plays

Divisional Round Punt Plays

Every week John Lee, Cecil Lammey and I (Jeff Pasquino) discuss our punt plays for DraftKings on The Audible to close out our weekly DFS DraftKings podcast.  These are players that we are looking at to fill in a last spot on our lineups that are relatively cheap.  We have all been there - we have only a few bucks left and 1-2 spots to go in our roster, and we need a good value play to fill in that gap.  The rules we play by are that the player must not cost more than $3,500.

Just like always, I can only use one on the show - and I am not going to steal the thunder from our three picks that make the airwaves - but I will share a few guys that did not make it for the final cut.  With such a small slate (four games) this week, there are not that many - but there are still a few to consider.  So who did I pick on the show?  You have to listen!  So, tune in for my pick this week, and give the following list of additional punt plays for this week a read and tell me what you think, either in the comments or on twitter (@JeffPasquino).   Here goes:

Steven Jackson, RB, Patriots ($3,300) - Rumor has it that the Patriots want to get Steven Jackson going this week to spark a New England ground game, and they could need him if Gronkowski either cannot play or is at less than full strength.

Jermaine Kearse, WR, Seahawks ($3,200) - Carolina will blanket Doug Martin, so someone else has to step up to help Russell Wilson.  Jermaine Kearse could easily be that guy.  He has had 20 targets over the past four weeks, resulting in 16 catches and two scores over that period.  He's on the field plenty, so he looks like a reasonable roll of the dice.

Darrius Heyward-Bey, WR, Steelers ($3,000) -  With Pittsburgh now having to play without Antonio Brown, it will be all hands on deck for the receivers.  That means DHB moves up to #3 in the pecking order.  The question is, will it be all hands, or all stone hands?

Knile Davis, RB, Chiefs ($3,000) - If Spencer Ware is unable to go, Davis makes for a reasonable punt this week.  Davis was the RB2 last week for the Chiefs with Ware sidelined, rushing to close out the game, and he led off the game with a kick return for a touchdown.  Pairing him with the Kansas City defense is a bold contrarian move that could pay off big if he returns another kickoff.

Scott Chandler, TE, Patriots ($2,600) - New England  wants Rob Gronkowski to be ready, but if he misses this game (or is limited), Chandler is a competent understudy.  One touchdown catch makes 3x value for Chandler, which is not unreasonable at all if he moves up the depth chart for Saturday.

Week 16 Punt Plays

Week 16 Punt Plays

Last week I was off with my Vernon Davis pick, but I did go back to the tight end position this week.  Who is it?  You have to listen!  John did well last week with Reuben Randle, who now seems like a cash play this week with OBJ / ODB suspended.  So, tune in for my pick this week, and give the following list of additional punt plays for this week a read and tell me what you think, either in the comments or on twitter (@JeffPasquino).   Here goes:

Charles Sims, RB, Buccaneers ($3,300) -  Chicago cannot defend the pass, and Sims offers value as a receiver out of the backfield and can run it as well.  I like his upside.

Jermaine Kearse, WR, Seahawks ($3,200) - Russell Wilson is red hot and the Rams are not, so why not consider a cheap piece of that offense?

Nate Washington, WR, Texans ($3,200) - Houston has to throw the ball, and DeAndre Hopkins cannot catch every pass.  Washington gets a lot of targets in this offense, and if he scores, well, that's a 3x or 4x event right there.  (Yes, this is a recording)

DraftKings Sunday Games Roundtable - Week 15

This week's discussion focused on punt plays, candidates to receive the DraftKings performance bonuses for yardage, chalk plays, and tough issues facing elite wide receivers. It was a great session with the DraftKings staff and should give our readers plenty of insight heading into their contests their week.

Check out  full article here.

Week 15 Punt Plays

Week 15 Punt Plays

Last week I was solid again with Bilal Powell, but Cecil Lammey also connected big with Rueben Randle.  Did we do it again? Tune in for my pick this week.  So give the following list of additional punt plays for this week a read and tell me what you think, either in the comments or on twitter (@JeffPasquino).   Here goes:

Bilal Powell, RB, Jets ($3,600) -  Yes, I am cheating a little, but the pricing is tighter this week.   I still like Powell as a solid PPR play.

Malcom Floyd, WR, Chargers ($3,500) - Someone has to catch the passes from Phillip Rivers this week.  Why not Floyd?

Markus Wheaton, WR, Steelers ($3,400) - Big Ben is red hot, and while Denver is a tough matchup, I have a good feeling that Pittsburgh is going to put up a solid fight.  A long touchdown and Wheaton hits cash and GPP value in one big play.

Nate Washington, WR, Texans ($3,400) - Houston has to throw the ball, and DeAndre Hopkins cannot catch every pass.  Washington gets a lot of targets in this offense, and if he scores, well, that's a 3x or 4x event right there.

Seth Roberts, WR, Raiders ($3,300) - Oakland might fall behind quickly to Aaron Rodgers and the Packers, which leads right to the Raiders having to throw.  Roberts is their solid WR3 option and he has been productive of late.

Dontrelle Inman, WR, Chargers ($3,-00) - See Malcom Floyd's comments above.

Week 14 Punt Plays

Week 14 Punt Plays

Last week was pretty thin, but I pulled out a gold coin with Dorial Green-Beckham.  Did I do it again? Tune in for my pick this week.  I also loved Cecil's pick as he was on my list as well, so I expect big things from both players.  John broke the rules by going for a player at $3,600, but he was a great value and I completely get why he went there.  So as you might have guessed, I think that the list is much deeper for Week 14.  So give the following list of additional punt plays for this week a read and tell me what you think, either in the comments or on twitter (@JeffPasquino).   Here goes:

Darren Sproles, RB, Eagles ($3,500) -  The Eagles beat New England last week with Sproles as the main back - but will he have a similar role this week?  With Ryan Mathews ($3,400) back as well and even Kenjon Barner in the mix, this is a tough call.

Charles Sims, RB, Buccaneers ($3,400) - The Saints cannot defend the pass, and this is where Sims really excels.  With Tampa Bay favored, Sims can add some solid value in full PPR.

Tyler Lockett, WR, Seahawks ($3,500) - Seattle is a big favorite and Doug Baldwin has been the hot hand for touchdowns, but Lockett is also getting a lot of catches - just no touchdowns of late.  With Baltimore's secondary a mess, Lockett is a nice call.

Robert Woods, WR, Bills ($3,500) - While everyone focuses on LeSean McCoy and his return to Philadelphia and Sammy Watkins performing big of late, Tyrod Taylor is favored to do well this week.  His second target in Woods has some positive upside if this game gets to be a high scoring affair.

Jamison Crowder, WR, Washington ($3,500) - Washington and Chicago think they both have playoff chances, so look for Kirk Cousins to spread the ball around.  Crowder is a possession guy who can get 5-7 catches and reach GPP (14 points) value here.

Coby Fleener, TE, Colts ($3,000) - Jacksonville is not good at defending the tight end position, and Fleener had eight targets last week.  Simple math here.

Orleans Darkwa, RB, Giants ($3,500) - Jeff's "Dark" pick here as the lead back for New York who might lead the Giants in rushing and could get a touchdown this week.

Week 13 Punt Plays

Week 13 Punt Plays

This week was pretty thin, and my fellow show members took most of the best options, leaving me with a Titan as my pick (tune in to find out which one).  Even though the barrel seemed empty, there are still a few others to consider for a punt play this week, so give them a read and tell me what you think, either in the comments or on twitter (@JeffPasquino).  Hat tip to John Lee for the final three on the list.  Here goes:

Darren Sproles, RB, Eagles ($3,400) - New England is a big favorite at home against Philadelphia, but if the Eagles are to have any measure of success, they will need to use their speed to turn the corner.  That's a recipe for Darren Sproles, who also gets the bonus value of returning kicks.  Honorable mention to WR Josh Huff ($3,200).

Marqise Lee, WR, Jaguars ($3,000) - Jacksonville cannot run the ball this year, so expect the Jaguars to pass as usual.  The problem is Allen Hurns is unlikely to play, and that will give Marqise Lee a spot start opportunity.  As a starter he should be the third target after Allen Robinson and TE Julius Thomas, but a few catches and 40-50 yards makes cash value very easy.  If he finds the end zone, he will present fantastic value.

Dontrelle Inman, WR, Chargers ($3,200) - San Diego cannot run either, but Philip Rivers can throw.  Inman scored last week and he is starting for the Chargers.  Total "I hope he scores" against a tough defense.  The good news if he does?  Not only is he very likely to hit GPP value, but no one else will own him.

James White, RB, Patriots ($3,300) - James White received the second-most snaps out of the New England backfield last week, and he could see more catches on Sunday (H/T to John Lee).

Keshawn Martin, WR, Patriots ($3,000) - John calls him a total punt play (Seems a bit redundant to me, but OK), but Martin will run as the WR2 for New England and Bill Belichich is always making us guess.  With Martin getting 61 snaps, who knows this week.

Brian Hartline, WR, Browns ($3,400) - Simple math here, as Hartline has seen 34 targets the past three weeks.

Week 12 Punt Plays

Week 12 Punt Plays

Just like always, I can only use one on the show - and I am not going to steal the thunder from our three picks that make the airwaves - but I will share a few guys that did not make it for the final cut.  Some of them look pretty solid this week, so give them a read and tell me what you think, either in the comments or on twitter (@JeffPasquino).  Here goes:

Robert Woods, WR, Bills ($3,400) - A big, home run hitting wide receiver against the worst team in defending wide receivers (Kansas City)?  Sounds good to me.

Bilal Powell, RB, Jets ($3,300) - Miami is not good against the run, and Powell offers value as a rusher and a receiver.  Good upside here.

Charles Sims, RB, Buccaneers ($3,500) - Jameis Winston is heating up and the Colts will have their hands full with Doug Martin and Sims.  Sims has value as a runner and a receiver against a weak defense in great conditions in a dome here.

Chris Thompson, RB, Washington ($3,200) - Washington still thinks that they have a playoff chance, and throwing is the way to beat the Giants.  Thompson is their best third down back.

David Cobb, RB, Titans ($3,400) - Is this the week that Tennessee finally gets Cobb going?

Week 11 Punt Plays

Week 11 Punt Plays

Every week John Lee, Cecil Lammey and I (Jeff Pasquino) discuss our punt plays for DraftKings on The Audible to close out our weekly DFS DraftKings podcast.  These are players that we are looking at to fill in a last spot on our lineups that are relatively cheap.  We have all been there - we have only a few bucks left and 1-2 spots to go in our roster, and we need a good value play to fill in that gap.  The rules we play by are that the player must not cost more than $3,500.

So who made my short list for this week?  Well, I can only use one on the show - and I am not going to steal the thunder from our three picks that make the airwaves - but I will share a few guys that did not make it for the final cut.  Some of them look pretty solid this week, so give them a read and tell me what you think, either in the comments or on twitter (@JeffPasquino).  Here goes:

Robert Woods, WR, Bills ($3,400) - A big, home run hitting wide receiver on Monday Night Football against the Patriots?  Sounds like a reasonable gamble, especially in the game with the biggest Las Vegas total at 49 points.

Dontrell Inman, WR, Chargers ($3,000) - No truth to the rumors that the Chargers were having open tryouts at wide receiver on their bye week, but what is true is that San Diego has limited options again this week against Kansas City.  The Chiefs are terrible against wide receivers, and Inman could be the WR2 this week starting for San Diego.

Doug Baldwin, WR, Seahawks ($3,500) - Props to Cecil Lammey who wanted this as his punt play for the week, but we talked him up too much on the show!  Great pick if you can squeeze him in as the top wideout for Seattle in a game where they should coast and be able to do pretty much whatever they want on offense.

David Givens, WR, Ravens ($3,200) - Joe Flacco has to throw to someone, right?  The Rams are not the easiest secondary to face, but Givens did find the end zone last week and he could do it again.

Week 9 Punt Plays

Week 9 Punt Plays

Here goes:

Marques Colston, WR, Saints ($3,400) - Drew Brees threw seven touchdowns last week - do I need to say more?  Get a piece of the New Orleans' offense against Tennessee in Week 9.

Dorial Green-Beckham, WR, Titans ($3,100) - Speaking of those Saints, they did just give up 49 points and still found a way to win.  "DGB" offers big upside if Marcus Mariota can find him deep.

Dontrelle Inman, WR, Chargers ($3,000) - Monday Night Football is ripe for fantasy goodness with the Bears and Chargers squaring off.  What do those two nicknames have in common?  Same as their teams - no "D".  Get some Chargers in your lineup this week.

Chris Thompson, RB, Washington ($3,300) - The Patriots are going to get up on the scoreboard early, but Washington is going to have to try and move the ball somehow.  Thompson can catch the ball out of the backfield and is solid running after the catch, so in full PPR he offers some nice upside.  Remember - even garbage time production counts in fantasy.

Heath Miller, TE, Steelers ($2,700) - Ben Roethlisberger is back and he needs short route pass catchers with no Le'Veon Bell.  That sounds like a solid reason to grab his favorite tight end, who could have a solid day and offers great GPP upside if he gets in the end zone in Week 9.

Week 8 Punt Plays

Every week John Lee and I (Jeff Pasquino) discuss our punt plays for DraftKings on The Audible to close out our weekly DFS DraftKings podcast.

Here goes:

Ladarius Green, TE, Chargers ($3,000) - It hardly seems fair to take Green as a punt play this week with so many San Diego receivers out and against a bad Baltimore secondary, but someone has to shoot those fish in the barrel, right?  He is not the only tight end to target this week though - so listen to The Audible for more!

Ted Ginn, WR,  Panthers ($3,400) - Quick - who is the top wide receiver in Carolina these days?  No fair, you just read his name.  Teddy Ginn Jr. has 18 catches, 283 yards and three touchdowns for the 6-0 Panthers as he is back and better than ever in Panther blue.  Ginn faces an Indianapolis secondary on Monday Night Football that just gave up 27 points to the Saints and I think that they will try and stop TE Greg Olsen first, leaving Ginn open for a few end zone chances.

Charles Sims, RB, Buccaneers ($3,600) - Wait, you are cheating at $3,600 by $100, right?  Well, that's the podcast rules, and more importantly, you need to read up on Sims.  There is a ton of value this week so get the right punts in your lineup.  This "Cecil Lammey Special" targets a back that will catch a lot of balls out of the backfield for Jameis Winston this week for a Tampa team lacking in targetable receivers for Week 8.

Donteea Dye, WR, Buccaneers ($3,000) - Who?  The best wide receiver ever to come out of Heidelburg University, that's who!  The Division III standout caught one pass for a touchdown last week and he is likely to start in place of Vincent Jackson this week, so grab him and hope for the best.  He's a dark horse for sure, but if he can get another touchdown, you are sitting on a gold mine here as not many people will have him, I can guarantee that!

Week 7 Punt Plays

Every week John Lee and I (Jeff Pasquino) discuss our punt plays for DraftKings on The Audible to close out our weekly DFS DraftKings podcast.

Here goes:

Theo Riddick, RB, Lions ($3,400) - Today's winner of the Last Man Standing award goes to Theo Riddick, the lone healthy back for Detroit that isn't physically hurting or suffering from fumblitis.  Riddick could easily get 10 carries and 4+ catches this week against the Vikings.  If he gets 60 yards, that's 10 points right there and an easy cash (3x) value.  That's his floor, folks.  A tournament upside is just one scoring play away.

Albert Wilson, WR, Chiefs ($3,000) - Wilson scored last week for Kansas City, which certainly improves his value (and makes him something of a unicorn for Kansas City, who never seem to be able to get a wide receiver to the end zone).  Now that Jeremy Maclin is recovering from a concussion, Wilson could see the most targets of any Chief wide receiver this week.

Darren McFadden, RB, Cowboys ($3,100) and Chrstine Michael, RB, Cowboys ($3,000) - Dallas is already talking about giving Michael more chances, and McFadden saw a ton of targets in Week 4 before the bye.  I expect Dallas to run a ton against the Giants, using the strength of the Cowboys with their offensive line to establish themselves early and get back towards the top of the woeful NFC East.  Both players should see enough touches to get 9-10 points quite easily, and a touchdown makes them hit tournament value with ease.
